The Third Eye

Trinetra

"Trinetra," is a Sanskrit term that translates to "The Three-Eyed" and is often associated with Lord Shiva.

The "third eye" symbolizes a higher state of consciousness and spiritual insight, representing the ability to see beyond ordinary perception, both literally and metaphorically.

In depictions, Shiva is often shown with a third eye on his forehead, which signifies the power of intuition, enlightenment, and a deeper awareness of the world.

This is artist Yojana Dehankar's imaginative interpretation of several mythological tales around Trinetra incorporating many elements associated with this sacred symbol - Lord Shiva's vibhuti for power, Lord Ganesha for creativity and wisdom, the crescent moon celebrating the feminine divine and snakes - symbolizing the balance between creation and destruction.
